"This three-part series marks a pivotal moment in my practice, born while studying in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. What began as a passing comment from a former roommate about my hair products became a small but sharp catalyst, opening my eyes to broader systemic truths.

While I acknowledge that my personal encounters are only a fraction of what many endure daily, this experience reshaped how I observe the world around me. The resulting paintings explore three distinct facets of that realization: the use of interracial relationships as tokenism, the pervasive anxiety of police brutality, and the performative burden of code-switching. Rather than imposing answers, these pieces serve as an open space for observation."
