Greed

Greed

It should surprise no one that Greed's primary class is that of Thief, nor that his secondary is that of Warrior.

The dictionary defines Greed as a selfish desire for excess, which as a physical incarnation aligns perfectly into a thieving persona. Greed as a person is simply hungry for more. Of what? Yes, everything, please.

So if acquisition is the goal or desired end, then the warrior persona is an excellent corollary support, or a means to that end. The thief inside Greed is perfectly willing to let the mighty warrior inside himself take over, and force any opponent to submit to his will.

You will know if you meet Greed in passing, for you will realize, whatever you thought you had that was worth any value to you, was really just something you were holding onto until such time that Greed decided he wanted it for his own.

These tyrannical attributes go a long way to explain why Greed became a Pharaoh of the Nile Delta, and why he commands respect from its members and its enemies alike.

The Story of Greed

Greed is the top Pharaoh in the Nile Delta. He manages the financial part of the Delta and collects all that he can to see if he can use it. He doesn't choose something's value on social worth, shininess, or rarity. Though all of those do play a factor in his decisions to take something, he focuses most on his instincts, and if they tell him not to take something, he usually listens.

Not listening to his instincts is how he was cursed with that particular sin. He once lived as a normal mortal, but a bit more greedy than most. He was also jealous of the kings and gods and the wealth, power, and authority that they possessed, and wanted it all for himself.

He tried to steal valuables from a tomb of Osiris one day, but had a really bad feeling about it yet didn't listen, and was instantly caught in the act by the god of the dead, himself. Greed did not beg or plead for his life, shocking Osiris. After a short standoff, Osiris chuckled and offered Greed his hand. The god gave him an excellent offer that he couldn't refuse: the mortal was to be given the name of Greed so he may never forget his foolishness and selfishness, and must also live with the curse of the same name, driving his instincts and behaviors. He was also forbidden from taking lives, though Greed never liked the idea of killing anyway.

Osiris did like Greed but still figured he needed to be punished in a less harmful way for his transgression. Greed thought about it, but accepted not long after he was given the offer, as it was either that or death. Long story short, he now uses what wealth, power, and authority he has as a Pharaoh to rule over the Nile Delta, under Osiris's withering supervision, of course.

He is a fairly kind Pharaoh, though selfish and reckless at times. He loves his domain and ruling over it and its inhabitants. He does not think twice about sending guards to collect travelers nearby so he may pick what valuables they have for himself.

So long as he does not harm them, Osiris allows this, as he is the one who cursed the mortal, and expected this sort of behavior and fate to occur. Though Greed is not permitted to authorize execution, Osiris has no such limits, so make sure you don't tick him off. Greed does have the authority to imprison you, however, and take all of your things for himself. He can give you a fate worse than death.

To this day, no one knows what Greed's real name is, as he was never seen as that man since that fateful day with Osiris.
