Key Terms

IEP (Individualized Education Plan):

A plan or program developed to ensure that a child who has a disability identified under the law receives specialized instruction and related services.

Intervention and Referral Services (I&RS):

Proactive program to provide students and teachers with research based preventative and early intervention approaches to support student learning. The goals are to increase student academic and school performance through a systematic approach. Students can be referred for any of the following challenges: academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and/or health.

Title 1:

School wide program aimed to support students who would benefit from additional supports. Title 1 students are those who are determined as at-risk through MAPs, benchmarks, and teacher recommendations. These are the students who then receive additional support such as tutoring, supplemental periods, Saturday help, etc.
