At Tarrant County College, service learning is a curriculum-based strategy that enhances student learning by addressing genuine community needs.
All Tarrant County College courses with Service Learning components will meet the following minimum standards:
The service learning experience will relate to the curriculum with clearly stated learning objectives.
The service learning experience will address community identified needs in a sustained manner over a period of time.
The service learning experience will result in cognitive and effective student development demonstrated through rigorous, instructor-led reflection assignments.
The service learning experience, including assessment guidelines, will be detailed in instructor's course syllabus.

Earn a certificate for community service and volunteer work.
There are three categories of certificates:
Service Learning Certificate after completing a Service Learning Course -Faculty can register their course below.
Civic Engagement and Service Certificate -individual students can earn a certificate after completing and logging 15 hours of Community Service. Register to earn a certificate and track hours below.
Civic Engagement and Service Organization Certificate -student organizations can register their organizations to earn this certificate. The organization must log 40 service hours together, For example, if 10 students did 4 hours each, the organization qualifies. Student presidents or advisors can register their student organization through the link below.
Additional award and certificates can be earned for continued service after earning your first certificate. For example a student organization could earn a 5-Years of Civic Engagement and Service Award
