Darrin C. Milling was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He is an artist of the Edwards Instrument Company since 1991, co-founder of Low Brass Project Chamber Ensemble., co-founder of Duo das Américasm and is a member of Posaune Decouple, founded by his mentor and trombone legend Glenn Dodson (1931-2007). He previously held bass trombone positions of Pennsylvania Opera Theater Orchestra, Haddonfield Symphony, Bridgeton Symphony Orchestra, the bass trombone fellowship of the New World Symphony, and, in his teens, was the youngest appointed member of the former Chesapeake Brass Quintet and Louis Hamlin Baltimore Big Band.

Mr. Milling has performed with The Philadelphia Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony, and has appeared as soloist in front of ensembles such as the DePaul Chamber Orchestra (USA), National Theatre Orchestra (Brazil), Wind Orchestra of Schulich School of Music at McGill University (Canada), Luzerne Music Center’s Symphonic Band (USA), and has been a guest artist on chamber series throughout the U.S. Brazil and Southeast Asia.

He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from The Curtis Institute of Music and did post-graduate studies at the Esther Boyer College of Music. As an instructor, he served on the faculty of Wilkes-Barre University’s School of Music and presented master classes at Tanglewood Music Center, Peabody Conservatory, Indiana University, Eastman School of Music, Mannes School of Music, The British International School (Malaysia), Mahidol University (Thailand), Yong Siew Toh (Singapore) and New England Conservatory.

Darrin received the ‘Cultural Merit Award’ and distinguished title of ‘Comendador’ from The Carlos Gomes Brazilian Society of Arts, Culture and Education which is dedicated to Brazil’s celebrated composer and maestro, Antônio Carlos Gomes.

Milling won the bass trombone principal audition for São Paulo State Symphony during their 1997 international auditions in New York City. He has served on the board of directors for the Foundation that administrates the Orchestra and at Brazil’s largest social music organization called Projeto Guri. Finally, he has been a consultant for several cultural institutions and currently serves as the Exclusive Representative of the Brazilian conductor, Maestra Mariana Menezes.
