Resources for CS in Learning
These are resources that educators find useful for integrating citizen science into their learning programs. The initial list is short and not organized. Once the resource list has grown, it will be organized by topic.
Please add your own recommended resources! List them on this form.
Encyclopedia of Life
EOL Learning + Education
The Encyclopedia of Life Learning + Education team (EOL L+E) is part of the larger EOL collaborative. EOL L+E works with educators, citizen scientists and partners to make this information accessible through free tools, services and resources found here.
Lesson Plans
Lesson plans are divided into three grade and age ranges, with five themes. Some lesson plans have one or more learning perks including the use of our free Species Cards. Lesson plans are created by EOL and partners.

iNaturalist Teacher’s Guide
Explore and share your observations from the natural world.
iNat might seem like the perfect blend of science and mobile technology, but too often it gets misused in the classroom, and as a result iNat gets a flood of poor observations, and the students participating get bored and don't really learn anything. In order to help you avoid some common problems, here are some pointers for teachers seeking to use iNaturalist in the classroom.
Scroll to bottom of the Teacher’s Guide to find notable examples of iNat in the classroom, including coursework, lesson plans, and protocols.

Project Outline & Curriculum
On this page you will find the project summary and curriculum documents including student surveys, project outlines, assessments, WebQuests (inquiry-oriented lesson in which most or all the information that learners work with comes from the website), field observation assignments, grading rubrics, and other related assignments. Also, there is an iNaturalist PowerPoint slide show for educators to train their students in using iNaturalist.
