Computers have evolved to the point that with the right specs, it can help people do their jobs perfectly. Take graphic designers, for example. Nowadays, most professionals in the field of a graphic design need a specialized CPU, which for all intents and purposes is greater than the garden variety desktop or laptop used for word processing.
Here are some of the requirements graphic designers need from a laptop.
Blender
If the designer is using the Blender software, what he needs is quite specific. The graphics card should have at least 4GB VRAM, with an octa-core 64-bit processor. Add all of that to the 16GB memory and the aforementioned Dual Open GL3.2-compatible graphics card, and it’ll be quite a hefty price tag. This is, however, recommended for serious graphic designers who have a lot invested in the career.
After Effects
The After Effects program is a bit less demanding than Blender. It may still need a 64-bit processor, but a quad- or hexa-core may do. The spec for the memory is also lower (8GB), as is the video card (4GB VRAM)
Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
These are two favorites of budding graphic designers. Adobe Photoshop users would need an Intel processor (or AMD) with at least a 2GHz 64-bit processor (and 8GB RAM). On the Adobe website, the recommendation for Adobe Illustrator is a bit lower – at least a 32-bit Intel processor (although 64-bit is needed for AMD processors). For the 32-bit, you’d need 2GB RAM, while the 64-bit needs 4GB RAM.
