Future tech: Computer vision

The evolution of technology in the past few decades has pushed humanity forward like never before in such a short period. From the internet to mobile technology, many of the tech representations today didn’t even exist in the wildest imaginings of most people.

Today, computer engineers, researchers, and developers have been working on what’s called computer vision or CV, the ability of a computer to take in visual data, analyze it in-depth, and make decisions based on the analysis. Data can come in the form of photos, videos, or any images picked up by sensors, detectors, and the like. One of the most popular applications of CV today can be seen in the workings of drones. These aerial machines have computers in them that recognize patterns and move accordingly.

Many tech experts recognize CV as one of the stepping-stones that can lead to artificial intelligence. Because of CV, devices and gadgets function better. An example of this can be seen with vehicles that drive themselves with the use of computers and robotics applications in several industries. Significant future applications include that in healthcare, sports, and even tourism.

In a few years, finance professionals predict that CV and the hardware market will be valued at approximately $50 billion.
