The learning commons is a learning setting where knowledge generation and self-directed learning are prioritized (Heitsch & Holley, 2011).
According to Loertscher & Koechlin (2012), a virtual learning commons is an online form of learning commons. It is a platform where school students, teachers and parents can communicate, learn and create knowledge for each other.
FOR STUDENTS, PARENTS AND TEACHERS
The VLC provide students with a vast array of digital resources, including e-books, websites, videos, etc., which can allow students to acquire knowledge in more ways.
The VLC creates an engaging learning environment. Rich learning resources, games and activities can make students more willing to learn.
The VLC allows stakeholders (students, librarians, teachers, parents) to use the platform together, and all benefit from it.
The VLC, as an extension of offline learning sharing, can complement the library's services and make them more thorough.
The CISB library features a student-centered design that ensures that students find what what they’re looking for, and enjoy their time there. The space features over 15,000 books, including a home-language collection, computers and printers, along with comfortable work and reading spaces. We also subscribe to digital resources to enrich students’ access to information.
The libraries are open to students and staff from 7:45am – 4:45pm, Monday to Friday.
