More details for each of these positions can be found in the CIS-GSG Constitution, but a brief summary for each is below.
Co-chairs - The co-chairs supervise all affairs involving the CIS Graduate Student Group, and serve as a liaison between the graduate students and the faculty. Among other duties, the co-chairs jointly preside over all CIS-GSG meetings, attend selected faculty meetings when necessary, are responsible for requesting and managing financial resources, and coordinate official communications between the CIS Graduate Student Group and the CIS Graduate Group Faculty.
Social & Community Officer - The Social & Community officer coordinates (bi)weekly Social/Networking events. These events are intended to foster community and engagement among CIS graduate students and faculty and to provide space for the informal interactions that boost intellectual collaboration as well as general well-being.
Professional Development Officer - The Professional Development officer coordinates (semi) monthly Professional Development events, which focus on skills or topics requested by our CIS grad community. They also nominate CIS graduate students to run the weekly brown-bag meetings and assist in transition of the brown-bag meeting format between semesters.
Graduate Student Association Delegate - The GSA Delegate serves as the CIS Graduate Student Representative and liaison between the CIS graduate student body and the Delegate Assembly of the GSA. The Delegate Assembly serves as the official forum to discuss campus and graduate student matters, as a governing body of the GSA. The GSA Delegate attends monthly DA meetings, and votes on matters in accordance with the constitution and bylaws of the GSA. They also work on editing our website and keeping it up-to-date!
The CIS GradStudentGroup has five officers on the Executive Committee: Two Co-Chairs; a Social & Community Officer; a Professional Development Officer; and the Graduate Student Association Delegate Assembly Member. More details for these offices can be found in the CIS-GSG Constitution.
