What is the CISGradStudentGroup?
The CIS Graduate Student Group (CIS-GSG) is an organization created by graduate students, run by graduate students, to foster a sense of community and communal representation within the UC Merced CIS department.
Who is in the CISGradStudentGroup?
The CIS-GSG is made up of all current graduate students in good standing within the UC Merced CIS department. The executive committee of the CIS-GSG is elected by the CIS graduate student members on an annual basis.
What does the CIS-GSG do?
The CIS-GSG provides group representation for CIS graduate student issues and concerns. The executive committee serves graduate students by communicating with CIS faculty, hosting social and community events, and providing professional development resources.
How do I contact the CIS-GSG officers?
Send us an email at ucm.cis.gradstudentgroup@gmail.com
Fill out our contact us form, where you have the choice to remain anonymous.
Shoot one of us a quick email via our personal UC Merced email addresses.
How do I run for an officer position?
We are glad you asked, and we hope you run! In the Spring semester, you can self-nominate (highly recommended) or be nominated to serve on one of our five officer positions.
For full details, see the "Join the Executive Committee" page.
This google site is meant to accompany the CIS program's official website, at cogsci.ucmerced.edu. Visit the official website to learn more about current students and faculty and for guidance regarding program requirements. We've tried to include up to date information and forms (i.e. for advancement to candidacy) on this CISGradStudentGroup google site (e.g. in our "What is an IR?!" section), but always keep in contact with your committee, UCM Graduate Division, or ask your fellow grad students if you need any help navigating the paperwork side of the PhD process.
Have a question? Find a broken link? What to add information to this site, or an event to the google calendar? Contact the CIS GradStudentGroup at ucm.cis.gradstudentgroup@gmail.com
