Hi, I'm Erica,
At CirKarma, our mission is built from a 25+ year Ontario (Canada) educational teaching career dedicated to supporting students with autism, and/or other neurodivergent profiles, and their families. Having worked with individuals from kindergarten to young adulthood, we understand that support isn't just about the classroom—it’s about empowering the whole family. CirKarma was founded to bridge the gap between educational support and real-world success. We strive to provide compassionate guidance and support at every stage of the journey. At its core, CirKarma is about honouring and amplifying voices, while co-building community!
CirKarma understands how isolating it can be to raise a neurodivergent child or youth. As such, with our core being about co-building community, we leverage the power of the internet to create meaningful, informative, and social connection-based learning experiences. These online “Sessions” take into account ALL communication styles and preferences. Through the support of an Online Buddy, (parent, sibling, cousin, grandparent, etc.) our students thrive in sharing their voices in ways they feel comfortable. Access to the chat, use of digital reactions, AAC devices, Spelling Boards, and gestures are all encouraged and valued.
Strategically crafted, CirKarma online sessions rely upon a high structured, visually-supported framework that involves Emotional Literacy Activities, Use of Literature through a Bibliotherapy Approach, Opinion-Based Movement Breaks, and Summative Arts Activities all centered around specific topics, (transportation, nature, animals, music, etc.). At CirKarma we pride ourselves on getting to know your child/youth and tailoring our sessions to their preferred interests!
With sessions typically being 1.5 hours in length, we have found that our CirKarma online sessions are just enough time for students to stay interested and engaged. With universal permission to participate in ways that honour your child/youth and family (need a snack - eat it, need a washroom break - take it, want your camera turned off - do it, need a sensory tool - get it) we foster individual success and participation. With access to the internet being the only requirement and being able to log in from different learning environments (home, cottage, travel site, etc.) our CirKarma online sessions demonstrate the power of socially-connected virtual communities.
