Passing the baton: Operational Hand-Over
Obviously, this will never be a replacement for the internet and AI. However, the content and files found in this site represents key documents that I have found to be useful during my career. I simply wish to make them available to the Next Generation (Star Trek reference intended), and hopefully you will find something of interest as well.
Enjoy!
As I move towards (semi) retirement, my aim is to pass forward knowledge in the form of key files and summaries that others might find of use. No strings attached - just take what you need and enjoy!

Acids and Alkalis
The file includes screenshots and tables related to acids and alkalis. What I like best and found the most useful is the small table conversion between pH, hydrogen ion concentration and how much acid is required to achieve it. Plus a small table of the most common acids.
Atomic Theory
Just a few small notes and drawings which helped me better remember and understand atomic structure.
Step 3
Write out a description to describe the problem. Consider breaking out the solution into small steps to make it easy for someone to solve themselves.
Drill and Blast Open Pit
Enclosed is an example of a Drill and Blast process outline for an open pit mine. This can be used as a starting point for creating a detailed SOP, launching a process related investigation or creating a general SIPOC for the process.

Copper Processing Options
The best portions of this scan are related to the various options associated with copper production. In particular Figures 8.2, 8.23, 8.3, 8.4 and 8.5. Very high level but easy to follow flowcharts for different part of the processing route.
Chloride Processing: Nickel and Cobalt
My own personal summary notes associated with Chloride Leaching and Hydrometallurgy of Nickel / Cobalt.
Filters: Drum / Belt
A one page summary explaining how filters function using a simple scenario. Wash efficiency math shown.
Filtration Testing
A great Filtration Leaf Test Data Sheet, with all the data that needs to be recorded.
Kidd Sodium Jarosite
Paper written for Iron Control and Disposal 1996 conference. "The Effect of Process Parameters on the Precipitation of Sodium Jarosite at Kidd".

Estimating costs
The following is a brief one-pager with list of items that should be considered when evaluating project costs. It was from my time at Falconbridge, and makes reference to the company.

There are many phrases that have been used to describe this particular set of skills: soft, emotional intelligence, non-technical and social interaction skills are some such examples. This set of skills is usually geared towards people who supervise others, and would like to upgrade their leadership toolkit and ability to coach their direct/in-direct reports. But it also applies to technical roles requiring a stronger skill set in the “non-technical” areas of their work. One quickly realizes that technical strength is usually not enough to be successful in one's career. Below are a few of my favorite examples and tools within this social / emotional intelligence tool kit.
Four Step Feedback
One of the novel aspects of this feedback model is to have the person receiving the feedback go first, in suggesting both what they did well and what they would do differently next time. Provides you insights, whether you agree or disagree with them.
