The IBA- Karachi is one of the leading institutes of business and other related studies whose mission is to impart quality education in numerous educational fields to students selected on merit, irrespective of ethnicity, gender, religion, or financial means.

IBA has gone through many structural changes since its inception, and the most notable one in relatively recent times is the restructuring of the academic system into three separate autonomous schools, one of which is the School of Mathematics and Computer Science (SMCS).

At IBA, the Department of Mathematical Sciences was established in 2010, given the growing need to liaise undergraduate education in Mathematics with modern application areas (such as economics), as well as provide world-class education in Mathematics to prospective students.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences has a strong faculty base (full/part-time) who have had -their education -and their PhDs from local/foreign universities of very good standing and repute. With a synergetic, vibrant, and experienced team of highly dedicated faculty, the department offer BS-Mathematics, MS-Mathematics, and PhD-Mathematics programs. The curriculum, the infrastructure, the information, and computing facility, etc., are at par with international standards. Moreover, different logistical procedures are compliant with international best practices. The department organizes a research symposium every semester for young researchers. The department also organizes events to promote Mathematics among school kids, like Mathematika, Mathematics Summer School, etc.
