Hey, I am Jit Das, originally from West Bengal, a culturally rich and historically significant state in eastern India, known for its art, literature, and vibrant traditions. I completed my B.Tech in biotechnology from NIT Durgapur and am currently pursuing my M.Tech at IIT Bombay. I joined cilia biology Lab in January , 2025 with the broader aim of exploring this tiny structure. My research focuses on understanding the role of ubiquitination in maintaining ciliary homeostasis. Outside the lab, I am passionate about photography and enjoy traveling and discovering new places.
Hii, I am Sumedh Tayade, I come from Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, also known as the city of lakes. I have done my B.Tech from IIT Roorkee in Biosciences and Bioengineering. I have always been fascinated by the field and have always wanted to move ahead in the same, to that end I am currently pursuing my M.Tech in Biomedical Engineering from IIT Bombay.
To explore and figure out what my interests are in the research field , I joined the Cilia Biology lab and I'm currently working to establish a link between the cell cycle of the cell and cilia dynamics throughout the process. Apart from academics I like playing volleyball, watching anime and listening to music.
Hi, I’m Khileshwari Dhake, an M.Tech student in Biomedical Engineering at IIT Bombay, with a Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical science. I joined the Cilia Biology Lab in January 2025 for my credit seminar and continued for my MTP thesis. My current work focuses on synthesizing and evaluating derivatives of metformin for potential anticancer activity.
With a strong interest in interdisciplinary research, I enjoy bridging pharmaceutical science and biomedical engineering. Outside the lab, I love reading, traveling, practicing yoga, and exploring different cuisines.
Shiwangi Gautam
I’m Shiwangi Gautam from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. I completed my B.Tech in Biotechnology from Dr. AITD, Kanpur , Uttar Pradesh (AKTU).
I’m passionate about understanding how cellular mechanisms impact human health. My research explores key protein interactions and molecular alterations linked to disease progression, with a focus on pathways relevant to cancer biology.
In my free time, I enjoy writing poems and exploring beautiful places around the city with my friends.
Bhavana K
Hi, I am Bhavana K, a master's student in Cilia biology lab at IIT Bombay. I come from God's own country, Kerala and completed my Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from Central University of Rajasthan.
For my master's project, I am working on deciphering the pathomechanisms of cilia loss and cancer progression. Through this I am aiming to understand cell culture and molecular techniques.
Outside the lab, I enjoy spending time in nature and reading novels. I am also passionate about singing and playing veena.
Kulshum B. Jamal
Hi! I’m Kulshum B. Jamal, a master’s student in the Cilia Biology Lab at IIT Bombay. I come from the beautiful state of Himachal Pradesh and completed my bachelor's degree in Life Sciences from Himachal Pradesh University.
For my master’s project, I’m working on the functional characterisation of the ancestral ESCRT-0 protein using the model organism Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. Through this, I aim to better understand the molecular mechanisms that regulate ciliary function and trafficking.
Outside of the lab, I love exploring new places—wandering around, discovering hidden corners, and experiencing different environments is something that really excites me.
