Background and Invitation

The CIGRE Study Committee SC-A1 – “Rotating Electrical Machines” and the Japanese National Committee of CIGRE invite you to participate in the face-to-face CIGRE SC-A1 Colloquium on“ Rotating Electrical Machines for Power Generation”, which will take place from September 12th to 15th 2023 in Kyoto, Japan. 

The colloquium will be held in conjunction with the meeting of the CIGRE SC-A1 Study Committee Annual Meeting and the SC-A1 Working Group Meetings (September 10th to September 15th, 2023). 

The invitation to the colloquium is addressed to all SC-A1 members and SC-A1 experts, and to utilities, manufacturers, consultants, universities, and R&D organizations in the field of Rotating Electrical Machines. 

"Reliable Source of Electrical Power, Has Been and Always Will Be " 

As the energy transition from fossil-based fuels to renewable/sustainable energy sources gathers momentum, alternative power sources such as photovoltaics, wind turbines, large batteries, electric vehicles are being increasing applied for large scale electricity generation and storage. 

However, in the optimization of the mix of these power sources, conventional thermal or hydro generators are still playing an important role for the continuity and stability of power systems. 

In this meeting, authors are invited to present papers on experience, research, analyses, and operations with respect to development, integration issues and solutions of interconnections and dispersed renewable energies from the perspective of the rotating electrical machines. 

A technical visit is also being organized. 

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our pleasure to invite authors and delegates from the power generation industry, who are interested to learn and share current industry experiences and developments, to join the SC-A1 Colloquium & Tutorials 2023 in Kyoto, Japan.
