This field combines the principles and concepts of environmental, mechanical, electrical, and chemical engineering. The idea is to deal with complex environmental issues developing innovative and clean type of solutions. Those technologies that may help protecting the environment against the harmful pollution impact of valuable natural resources such as water, air, and soil. In addition to slowly reducing the current linear economy models and starting to dynamically promote and establish a more efficient circular economy.
Green engineering has also gained a lot of importance because of the importance of reducing global warming. This field involves the development of different projects including water and wastewater treatment plants, generation of environmentally friendly fuels (CO2-low/free), air purification processes, reutilization and/or management of municipal/agricultural solid-waste, etc (see examples below). The idea is to visualize, conceptualize and design new “green” technologies that effectively reduce and eliminate any source of contamination in order to protect our planet, for this and future generations.
