Every year, global disasters have created displacement, loss, and suffering for millions around the world. Stay tuned to this page for alerts on when World Renew is inviting churches to respond to global disasters.
On August 31, a powerful 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan, followed by multiple aftershocks that devastated remote mountain communities in several provinces. More than 2,200 lives have been lost, thousands are injured, and entire villages have been reduced to rubble. As winter approaches, families are facing urgent needs for shelter, food, and medical care.
World Renew is responding to bring emergency assistance to those most affected. We invite your church to join in this response by praying for those impacted and giving generously to support relief efforts. Your church may consider holding a special offering or simply sharing this giving opportunity with your congregation. Here are some ways to give:

On March 28, devastating earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.7 and 6.4 struck Myanmar, claiming the lives of over 3,000 people, destroying homes and infrastructure, and displacing countless families. The situation has become more dire by the recent onset of heavy rains.
World Renew is responding alongside our partners and network peers in Asia to share Christ’s hope and provide urgent relief. Your gift will help deliver food, shelter, medical support, clean water, and other essentials to the most vulnerable.
Please consider holding a special offering in your church to support this response. Use this offering slide or the video below to help share this urgent need with your congregation. We also ask for your prayers for ongoing peace and restoration amid the destruction in Myanmar. For more information on our response, please visit worldrenew.ca/earthquake.
