Keeping Computers Safe and Updated (and reviving older ones)

Updating, cleaning, transferring data, or deleting old data

We have had a number of requests to get older computers updated, data secured, or transferred. As Windows 10 is no longer supported and as others devices go out of date, how do we keep our data safe and keep our devices clean or up to date?

If you'd like to bring in a computer, a few things to do.

1. Let us know the make and model. You can find that information, usually on the back of a laptop. 

Missing a power supply? Let us know, we have a few donated that we can share.

2. Prepare to backup your data - perhaps on a USB drive? 

3. Consider your options, would you like to clean and refresh your device, or sell it, or use it as a backup?

4. Would you consider patching your Mac?

5. Would you consider using 'open source' for your device? 

6. Does your laptop have any problems such as with keyboard, or is it slow, or are some functions not working? Keep a list of what's going on.
