Our worship services are considered traditional for Churches of Christ, it isn’t instrumental or contemporary. As a congregation, we strive to worship God in Truth and Spirit. (John 4:24 "God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.")
Church services generally consist of the following activities
Prayer
During worship services, men lead the whole congregation in public prayers. (Acts 2:42 "And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.")
Singing
Hymns are the only songs that are sung, and they are led by a male song leader. These songs are sung without any musical instruments because the church follows a pattern of the first-century church. Hymns are the only type of music that is acknowledged in the New Testament for worship. (Ephesians 5:19 “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.")
The Lord's Supper
Every Sunday we offer the Lord’s Supper, which also follows the pattern of the first-century church. (Acts 20:7 "And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.")
When we partake in the Lord's Supper, we remember the Lord's death until He comes again. (Corinthians 11:23-26 "For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This is the New Testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.")
Bible Study (Preaching/Teaching)
Preaching of the Word, Bible reading, and direct teaching are primarily how we engage in Bible study. (2 Timothy 4:1-2 "I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at this appearing and his kingdom; Preach the Word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine."
At the close of the sermon, an invitation will be extended to any who wish to respond in obedience to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Giving
Every Sunday we give a donation for the work of the church, we do so because we realize that God has blessed each of us, and the church does many great works that require financial support. (1 Corinthians 16:2 "Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.")
