Church Broughton and Barton Blount have a number of highly qualified professionals with relevant specialist knowledge in renewable energy, construction and high voltage electrical supply who have committed to campaign against the solar farm. Our opposition and legal arguments are well co-ordinated and very well financed and we have a broad action plan in place with local leadership and project management experience. We are drawing in national bodies and associations to complement and support these action plans. On Thursday 14th May 2026 the Church Broughton Parish Council resolved to oppose this scheme which provides further cohesion to our efforts. Our campaign areas and contacts are shown below.
What can I do to help ?
Join our wildlife "spotters" in recording sightings of our important and endangered species. This will help us make the strongest case to Natural England (one of the Statutory bodies which will be consulted on any planning application).
Formally record "dangerous occurrences" and "flooding" on the roads with Dangerous County Council Highways (via General highway issue - Self ). You'll need to register an account to do this for the first time. Our support from DCC Highways will be much stronger if it has issues recorded.
Add to our "culture and heritage" arguments that we are making to English Heritage (Another of the statutory consultees).
Join us on Facebook (Stop the Church Broughton and Barton Blount solar farm). Spread the word to your friends and neighbours.
Display a "Stop the Solar Farm" A2 sign if you live in a prominent location that many people will see. We will have a number on sale shortly.
Lobby the Ramblers Association, Open Spaces Society, and British Horse Society and ask them to help us protect our footpaths and bridleway.
Send us pictures and videos relevant to the campaign. (Email us at NoCBSolar@gmail.com).
Raise child safety concerns if you are worried about construction traffic affecting the Church Broughton Infants school.
Use this website and make suggestions for extra information to add. (Email us at NoCBSolar@gmail.com).
Email Castle Way Energy and object to their proposal (Further details on the Object Now" page). You'll only get a standardised response from CWE, but the number of inputs will show them how hard we are fighting to prevent this proposal going ahead.
