The rig test used automobile motor to drive the impellers, and the impellers were installed in a vaneless spiral housing. The experiment outcomes showed little deviation with the compressor rig CFD results. The maximum RPM for this rig setup was 19,000 RPM. We took ASME PTC 10 as reference to our experiment setup and procedure.
The experiment was separated into two stages. First, cold flow experiment(without ignition) to test the pressure loss. Second, with ignition, we tested the burning range of the combustor to observe the fuel rate, exhaust temperature, fuel rich burning, and the fuel lean blow off limit.
