Hi! My name is Chulmin Yoon (윤철민). I am an Assistant Professor of Philosophy (철학) at the Korea Institute of Energy Technology (KENTECH) in Naju, South Korea. I received my PhD in philosophy in 2020 from The Ohio State University under the supervision of Ben Caplan and William Taschek. I received my MA and BA in philosophy from Sungkyunkwan University.
Research Areas
I work primarily on issues in the philosophy of language and metaphysics. Much of my current work focuses on issues surrounding the phenomena termed de jure co-reference. In addition to de jure co-reference, my research interests include the following topics:
Mental files and semantic relationism
Referential communication
The semantics and pragmatics of referential terms (e.g. names, definite descriptions, pronouns, indexicals, and demonstratives)
The answering machine puzzle
Metaphysics of propositions
