Here's a breakdown of three lighting levels for bands of different sizes (3-piece, 5-piece, and 9-piece) and the types of lights typically included at each level.    Bands are available in sizes of  1, 2, 3, 5, 6 or 9  piece

1. Basic Lighting

1  to 3 Piece Band:

• Front Lights: 2-4 PAR cans or LED PARs for basic front wash.

• Backlights: 2-4 PAR cans or LED PARs for backlighting.

• Spotlights: 1 follow spot for lead singer/instrumentalist.

5 or 6  Piece Band:

• Front Lights: 4-6 PAR cans or LED PARs for front wash.

• Backlights: 4 PAR cans or LED PARs for backlighting.

• Spotlights: 2 follow spots for lead singers/instrumentalists.

• Side Lights: 2-4 PAR cans or LED PARs for side wash.

9 Piece Band:

• Front Lights: 6-8 PAR cans or LED PARs for front wash.

• Backlights: 6 PAR cans or LED PARs for backlighting.

• Spotlights: 2 follow spots for lead singers/instrumentalists.

• Side Lights: 4 PAR cans or LED PARs for side wash.

• Additional Lights: 2-4 LED strips or light bars for extra effects.

2. Intermediate Lighting

1 to 3 Piece Band:

• Front Lights: 4-6 LED PARs or moving heads for dynamic front wash.

• Backlights: 4-6 LED PARs or moving heads for backlighting.

• Spotlights: 1-2 follow spots.

• Side Lights: 2-4 LED PARs for side wash.

• Effects: 2-4 LED strips or light bars.

5 or 6 Piece Band:

• Front Lights: 6-8 LED PARs or moving heads for dynamic front wash.

• Backlights: 6-8 LED PARs or moving heads for backlighting.

• Spotlights: 2 follow spots.
