In 2012 the world learned that seminal rock band R.E.M. were retiring. Jeffrey Bell called Chuck insisting they form an R.E.M. tribute band. Chuck was game, and recruited guitarist Mike Volk, drummer Matt Bowen and keyboardist Michael Hergert to round out the band. REModeled was formed as a tribute by and for diehard R.E.M. fans. Jeffrey and Chuck's favorite period were the band's early albums, released in the 1980's on IRS records. Over the next couple years REModeled performed every IRS album in it's entirety, chronologically. Once they'd played all the IRS records, the band went into hiatus, resurfacing once or twice a year to play a set of their favorites. In 2014 drummer Chad Rolles replaced Bowen.
