Chuck's first real band, Blahbuddha formed in 1992. Chuck started writing songs with high school friend Craig McCallie, the pair taking turns playing bass and guitar. They recruited drummer Javier Ochoa after finding his phone number posted on the wall at Brown's Music. Not yet comfortable taking on all the singing duties, Chuck asked his sister Donna to front the band. The band all lived raucously together in a house for a year, rehearsing in the mattress-lined walls of the basement. Blahbuddha called it quits in the summer of 1994, shortly after their only album "Phantom of the Miserable Supercats" was released.
