Chub Rub Hiking Club is a group of casual hikers in Southern Ontario hoping to make Ontario's trails more inclusive to people of all abilities, sizes, ages and backgrounds. We are a social-meet up group, not a business. If you've ever wanted to try hiking, but have felt intimidated, overwhelmed or unprepared... come hike with US!
make hiking accessible for all bodies and persons,
treat every hiker with kindness and respect,
consider diverse physical abilities and inclusivity in both trail selection and hike pacing,
leave the trail better than we found it
We tend to go on hikes that are rated easy to moderate. Read the event description to make sure that it is the right trail for YOU.
If it's your first time hiking or if you require accommodations, get in touch with us and we will make sure you know all about the trail you're taking.
Please complete a Participation Waiver and RSVP if you are planning to attend. We don't want to leave without you!
Create an atmosphere of inclusiveness and belonging, treating all participants with kindness and respect.
Interact with others in ways that reflect their uniqueness and worth. (If unsure of someone's preferred form of address, simply ask, "How would you like to be addressed?")
Provide encouragement, help, and support to fellow hikers where possible, acknowledging that we all move in different ways and different paces.
Adhere to safety recommendations, including staying on marked trails, carrying essential supplies, dressing appropriately, and avoiding boisterous or risky behaviour.
Minimize environmental impact by following principles of Leave No Trace and respecting wildlife.
Failure to adhere to the Code of Conduct will result in hikers being asked to leave the group immediately. We encourage all participants to report any breach of the Code of Conduct to hike organizers.
