Map - Evergreen Brickworks (we will be hiking in and around Don Valley Brick Works Park).
We will meet at the South Pavillion, near the pollinator garden. We are going to walk north from the parking area towards Don Valley Brick Works Park. The trail(s) are all loops, we will meander through looking for points of interest and a good spot to watch the sunset before heading back south to the parking lot. The main trail is about 2.5 km, but we are hoping to explore some of the side trails as well.
As this hike will be at sunset, you may wish to bring a flashlight or headlamp, and be sure to wear safe, comfortable shoes.

Location: Elora Gorge Conservation Area - 7400 Wellington County Road 21, Elora, ON
Hike Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Meet-up: 9:30 am at Kay Marston Pavilion (map)
Cost: Day Use Admission fees at Elora Gorge Conservation Area are $8.50 for adults / $3.75 for children 4-12 y / $6.75 for older adults and people with disabilities.
Trail length: 2 km with option to go to 5 km (out and back)*
Trail difficulty: Easy/Moderate - while most of this trail is fairly flat, there are areas with stairs, rocks and tree roots. Please consider this when deciding wether or not to attend.

We will meet at Kay Marston Pavilion (the parking area is just next to the playground).
For the 2km hike:
We will be taking the trail along the South side of the gorge, starting off heading East towards the "Hole in the Rock". Please note, there is a long set of stairs, with handrails, that go down to the rivers edge. We will take our time. :-)
We will then hike back up towards Kay Marston Pavilion. This will conclude the 2km hike.
For the 5 km hike:
For those who wish to continue, we will complete the above and then continue heading South-West along the gorge. There is a fence along the edge of the gorge for safety. The trail is mostly flat with some slight eleveations and tree roots, and rocks. Once we get to the bridge that crosses the gorge, we'll take a short break (and lots of photos!) before turning around and coming back the same way.
This portion of the hike also includes a lookout that is a long staircase down the side of the gorge. Of course, this is optional and we will take our time getting up/down the stairs.

Cost: Entrance Fee, per Hamilton Conservaton Authority - $16 per vehicle and driver + $5.00 for each additional passenger. Pay upon arrival.
Trail length: Boardwalk Trail 3.2 km loop + lookout tower (optional)
Trail difficulty: Easy, with some sections that are moderate (small hills, tree roots)
Hiking Pace: Leisurely-Comfortable
BONUS: Post-hike hang out with hot chocolate, snacks and maybe a campfire! (optional)

Details:
We will meet at Group Picnic Area 2, near the Beach Store. We will hike the Boardwalk Trail, going counter clockwise around the lake. This is a 3.2 km trail and is mostly flat, with some hills. There are some areas with uneven footing. The Boarwalk trail features several boardwalks over marshlands as well as a fishing bridge that crosses the lake. Near the end of the trail, we will stop by the Lookout tower to take in the great views (optional). The difficulty of this trail considered "easy to moderate", and we will travel at a comfortable-leisurely pace, approximately 2-3 kms/hour.
After the hike, you're welcome to join us for some hot chocolate, snacks and maybe a campfire!

Trail length: Ravine Trail 1.9km each way + Trillium Trail 1.1 km loop. Total length is approx. 5km, but please read below.
Trail difficulty: Easy. Trillium Trail is wheelchair and stroller accesible.

Details:
We will meet in Parking Lot A, and take the Ravine Trail towards Spruce Lane Farm. This approximately 2 km linear trail meanders along the top of the valley, overlooking the ravine and ends at the Spruce Lane Farm. We will take a short rest here. For those who wish to continue* we will continue along the Trillium Trail, which is a 1 km, wheelchair and stroller accessible loop. We will then take the Ravine Trail back to Parking Lot A. The total distance of this hike is a little over 5 kilometers, is considered "easy", and we will travel at a comfortable-leisurely pace.
*Should you wish to join us only for the Trillium Trail portion, we suggest you park at Parking Lot F, and meet us at the Spruce Lane Farm.

Location: Mount Nemo Conservation Area (Halton Region)
YOU MUST MAKE A RESERVATION FOR ACCESS TO THIS PARK - VISIT: parkvisit.ca, Select Mount Nemo and choose the 5pm-7pm time slot.
Hike details: Approx. 3 km hike that encompasses the western trail loops. The trail is rated easy to moderate, with some trickier bits along the cliff edge. Terrain includes: gravel, forest/large roots, rocky, steep rocks, some hills. No drop out points.
Cost (if applicable): $9.50 to Halton Region Conservation Authority when you register your vehicle. www.parkvisit.ca
Notes: We suggest you bring a flashlight or headlamp. We are hoping to stop 2/3 of the way through the hike to watch the sunset at one of the many beautiful cliff lookouts along the western edge of this trail (weather permitting). Expect some Hallowe'en treats! Costumes optional (but encouraged)!
