My name is Sierra Machart and I graduated from Culbertson School in 2017. Since then, I have gone on to receive an undergraduate bachelor's degree in Biomechanics and will become a Doctor of Occupational Therapy in April 2024 through the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND.
I have always loved education and want to do my part in giving back to a group of people who brought me to where I am today, and those people are educators. When deciding on a capstone project, I saw the opportunity to use what knowledge I have learned through occupational therapy and transform it into a resource to support educators who have such an important role to play in the lives of students who are the future of our world.
After graduation, I plan to work as a school-based OT which will put me in close proximity with educators. My hope through developing this program is to have a thorough understanding of how to positively impact educators and prevent possible burnout so that the students I work with will have a team of trusted adults on their side who are well-equipped to take care of themselves and their students.
Each week, participating educators will meet as a small group one time to discuss the topic for the week and engage in any learning activities related to it. This website is divided into week-by-week content so that after the group sessions, participants may easily refer back to what was discussed and access additional resources as desired.
For those who are not participating in a small group but would still like access to the content, this is the place to be! You can explore the weekly content at your own pace and access the materials as you wish.
I hope that we will all learn something new and have some fun while doing it!
