March 1:
Junior Breeze Lawless advanced to nationals in Speech and Debate. Lawless, who qualified for Metro finals in January, got 8th place at the competition. The top six are allowed to advance to finals, but due to 2 people dropping out, she was allowed to compete. Lawless competes in extemporaneous debate, consists of four rounds of debate in a variety of topics. Competing once a month at the Washington Arlington Catholic Forensic League, she has been on the speech team since her sophomore year.

March 19:
The Intro to Culinary class announced that the overall winner of the Cupcake War are Rebecca Kent, Kathryn Madlinger, Alyssa Byrd, Linden Lawson, and Sarah Pinion. The group made a display of a vending machine. The other categories were for best theme, cupcake and background. Cupcake War was a 4 class process in which groups of 5 students found recipes and designed a cupcake and a background correspondent to the theme chosen by the students. They were also required to write an author’s statement on their project. Teachers and Staff members were able to vote on their favorite.
“It was a generally fun experience,” said Senior Wesley Pollington, who was a member of the group winning for best theme. “I wasn’t expecting to win and I’m happy we did.”

March 28:
Sophomore Keeley Kern, who is the chairman of the Women’s Empowerment Club, led a Prom Dress drive on March 28. This drive promoted students to donate gently used accessories, shoes and dresses to provide a chance for girls to feel included in Prom while eliminating the financial stress. The club accepted donations until March 3. The club held a boutique at Colgan, open and free to anyone.
"I want everyone to have an equal opportunity to get their dream dress,” Kern said.
