If you registered SteamGuard with WinAuth in version 3.3, you will need to remove it from your Steam account and add it again. This is because WinAuth only kept the SteamGuard information relevant to generating the authenticator codes, but confirmations requires re-registering.

WinAuth is a portable, open-source Authenticator for Windows that provides counter or time-based RFC 6238 authenticators and common implementations, such as the Google Authenticator. WinAuth supports any service or website that uses the Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or an RFC 6283 based authenticator. It also supports games such as Battle.Net (World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, Diablo III), GuildWars 2, Glyph, WildStar, Runescape, SWTOR and Steam.

An unlimited number of authenticators can be stored, each with their own personalized name and icon for quick reference. The WinAuth application can be sized as preferred or automatically displayed to fit.

Each authenticator can be assigned a hot-key to notify, display, clipboard copy or inject the current code into another application. An advanced injection script can also be created to automate username, password and code entry. Scripts are part of the private data and also fully encrypted along with the authenticator data.

I'm trying to set up the security authenticator with Winauth but am seriously confused as to what I'm supposed to do. I've done some searches but best I've come up with is that it can be done, not exactly the how, and Winauth doesn't list SWTOR as one of the choices.

WinAuth is a portable, open-source Authenticator for Windows that provides counter or time-based RFC 6238 authenticators and common implementations. WinAuth can be used as a software token for ODU's Two-Factor Authentication, as well as other software that supports Two-Factor Authentication.

I use a desktop authenticator (winauth) and since yesterday i can't confirm anything. I can login using winauth and get the code to enter steam but when trying to use the confirmation page it gives various server errors.

I made the unfortunate mistake of using the 2-step authentication. I had an issue with my phone and lost google authenticator, so of course i contacted Gaijin support. They asked me for a plethora of ways to identify myself and I couldn't provide emails of my account purchases, as I delete them so they aren't clogging my inbox. They said they couldn't help me and closed the support ticket. So for about a year I've gotten by the authentication by accessing the store through my game client. However, my SDD finally took a dive and I had to reinstall war thunder. Again, I contacted Gaijin support and they told me that my problem had been resolved on my last ticket and closed the new one immediately.

Gaijin's award-winning, worlds worst customer service combined with my inability to bypass the authenticator has left me with very few options and very little patience. All I want to do is play the 5th anniversary events and pre-order my baguette plane. Any ideas legit, shady or otherwise are very much appreciated. I've put in another support ticket but if they're as "helpful" as they were last time then I have very little hope for that.

im looking to set up MFA for all our users but we dont have company mobile phones and im not wanting to ask employees to use there own phones to do this , and i was wondering if there was a desktop version of the authenticator app, this could be installed on there laptops or desktops . ive been trying to use winauth but with no success , it keeps bombing out when adding the Link or the secret code ...

the glyph OTP is a bit more confusing and thats what I meant to have as the focus of my post, pre digressing on a rant. winauth gives me otpauth://totp/Trion:Trion?secret=MYSECRETKEY&digits=8&issuer=Trion which is pretty generic/cookie cutter at first glance. I didnt expect any trouble.

Great question. We've discussed adding support for non-standard OTP implementations, but as it currently stands it's something we're unlikely to do. Because Valve is expecting that the authenticator app is the one they've released, if they were to make a change in the future that renders our algorithm inaccurate, you could potentially be locked out of your Steam account. I have a Steam account with many games too, and I'd love to keep all my one-time passwords in a single app, but if Valve or Glyph wants you to use their specific app for two factor authentication, we think we should respect that decision.

These are but two examples of authenticators. There are other options that would work in a similar fashion (e.g., Microsoft Authenticator). Please let us know if you are having trouble configuring a different authentication method by contacting support@revealdata.com.

And this article (first Google result) -authenticator-windows/amp/ describes that it is written on an open standard and that there are Windows programs like WinAuth, you can download to use Google Authenticator.

PS: steam changed some backend endpoints used in authentication and trade confirmation (/mobileconf/conf to /mobileconf/getlist), this obviously broke the old phone app along with many other third-party apps (winauth, sda, etc.)

Educate noob - i was away from stam like 4 years - winauth dead - i have to installl archi again? And i cant use confirmation there? would it have 2 weeks cooldown? Or i can paste shit from old winauth

I haven't found a way to transfer the token. There was some obscure app on github that claimed to move your settings from Winauth to SDA but it seems risky. I think I can move the authenticator from WinAuth to Steam app then move to SDA and there's only like a 2 day wait each move, I think. I'll figure something out. Thx.

da winauth nicht mehr geht mchte ich das mit asf-ui machen - aber das kapier ich irgendwie nicht. Auf der offiziellen asf-ui Seite finde ich keinen downlaod fr das UI. Kann mir da einer weiterhelfen?

Now that you have the authenticator window open, minimize that and go to the forums to get your authentication token. To do this, on the forums click on your user name at the TOP RIGHT and select "Two-step Authentication"

Now that you have a code from Alora's forums, enter that code in step one in the "Add authenticator" window from winauth that I had you minimize earlier. After you have entered the long code you had got from forums, make sure "Time-based" is selected in part 2, then press verify authenticator in the third part. After pressing verify authenticator, You will get a code in part 4, enter the code you get in the Alora forums. Be sure to put "Alora - (your username)" as the name in WinAuth.

Press ok on winauth, it will ask you to add an password, add any password of your choice and press ok. The next time you need to verify 2FA, open the winauth application I had you put somewhere you could find it at again when you extracted it.

So now I have 3 authenticators (WinAuth on Windows, Google Authenticator on Android and a Chrome browser plugin on Ubuntu) total using a same secret key for Prey and other stuffs and a password manager

After you enter your password to log into GravityZone Control Center, you need to enter a code from the authentication app configured as a second factor on your device. Bitdefender supports Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or any two-factor TOTP (Time-based one-time password algorithm) compatible authenticator.

If two-factor authentication is enforced to your company, you need an authenticator to log in. In case you do not have your phone nearby, contact your GravityZone administrator to reset your account so that you can use another device to log in, including a computer.

When configuring the authenticator, make sure you enable 2FA for your GravityZone account. You need the secret key (or the QR code) from the 2FA configuration page to set up the authenticator, which in turn provides the six-digit code to complete the process in GravityZone. For details on how to enable 2FA for your account, refer to Manage your account.

When asked how to protect your WinAuth authenticator, enter a password to encrypt it. You can also choose to encrypt the data so that the WinAuth file will be usable only on your computer and only by your account.

How it works: When you create an authenticator entry in WinAuth.exe, you provide the seed, which is provided to you by the web account. From then on the 6 digit number generated upon request is time based. The PCMag link also explains how they work.

Tip: When setting up a TOTP-style 2FA, I always take a screenshot of the QR code or copy/paste the alphanumeric text string to a safe place. That way, you can use the same seed to setup another authenticator app in the future on your phone or another computer.

I am using a corporate account protected by Microsoft. Initially all I saw was phone verification. But I went to my business Microsoft account via a link in the login help. From there I was able to add a 2FA/MFA authenticator entry using the WinAuth.exe authenticator Windows app, that does not require a phone of any kind. ff782bc1db
