Studio Policy

From the very beginning of musical study, my goal is to introduce students to the joy of music by setting an example of knowledge, skill, and passion.

Lessons

♫ A free interview/consultation is available to all prospective students

♫ Lessons are offered in 30, 45, or 60 minute blocks. An appropriate length will be chosen in consultation with each individual

♫ Lessons will take place in the teacher's home (39381 Dashwood Road, Exeter)

Tuition and Fees

♫ Fees are determined by the length and format of each lesson.

  • 30 min - $25

  • 45 min - $35

  • 60 min - $50

♫ Discounts are offered for families with multiple children enrolled in lessons

♫ Fall (September-December) and Winter (January-April) semesters will be 15 weeks in length. Spring/Summer lessons can be enrolled in on a monthly or weekly basis to accommodate for summer schedules.

♫ Tuition for all 15 weeks should be submitted before lessons begin each semester. Lessons will not begin until payment has been made. Monthly payment plans are available on inquiry.

♫ Cost of materials (music books, flashcards, etc.) will be the responsibility of the student. These will be chosen in consultation with your teacher and can be purchased online or at a local music store. A reasonable expectation would be about $20/semester for beginning students, perhaps more for advanced levels.

Attendance

♫ Students are required to commit to lessons for a full semester at a time

♫ Your lesson time is your chance to learn. Please arrive on time and prepared to begin. Late arrivals will not be given extra time.

♫ Lessons must be cancelled with 24 hours notice, except in the case of illness. Every effort will be made to make up these lessons, but is not guaranteed. Only 1 lesson per month will be made up.

♫ The teacher may cancel up to one lesson per semester due to illness or professional development. Any further cancellations will be made up.

Practice

♫ Your progress is usually directly related to your practice at home. A regular practice routine will help you get the most out of lessons

♫ Especially for young students, parents are expected to take an active role in helping their child to practice at home. Parents are encouraged to sit in on lessons whenever possible

♫ If a practice assignment is not understood, please call or email for clarification

Termination

♫ Either party may decide to discontinue lessons at the end of each semester

♫ Termination mid-semester may only take place under extraordinary circumstances by consent of both parties. Refunds will be determined on a case by case basis, but not guaranteed.

Performance

♫ Students are encouraged but not required to participate in performing opportunities

♫ A studio recital will be held at the end of each semester

♫ Always consult your teacher about performance opportunities including school assemblies, RCM exams, and local music festivals
