About Me
Hello! My name is Christopher Whitaker, but I usually go by Chris or Mr. Chris for my students. I have been working in early childhood for going on a decade now, but I’ve been working with children for most of my life. I have two younger brothers and caring for and fostering the growth of others has always been a passion of mine.
Since I was young, I’d always wanted to work in a field that made an impact on the future of the world, and an epiphytical moment came to me one day while volunteering in a Pre-K/Kindergarten hybrid classroom. “What better way to make an impact of good on the future than to teach those who will be the future?” It was on this day that I applied to Davidson Davie Community College to attain an Associates in Early Childhood Education. While there I met my instructor, mentor, and inspiration Sharon Carter.
She not only taught me the skills to be an educator but also pushed me to always grow myself, for that is the best way to always give my best to the children in my classes. Thanks to her encouragement I continued in pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education with Walden University.
What I do in my free time
In my personal time I train in Wado Ryu Karate.
I love traveling and learning about other cultures. This is a photo from my trip to Ireland during a study abroad trip.
I enjoy working with farm animals and in particular, horseback riding and natural horsemanship.
