I studied and worked in the field of wildlife ecology and conservation, which is what initially brought me to San Diego. While finishing my MS in Ecology from SDSU, I began my teaching career with High Tech High Media Arts as an Academic Coach in 2014. I was interested in working with and connecting with people, because people have the greatest capacity to enact change. The following year, I was teaching 12th grade environmental science and concurrently enrolled in the HTH Teacher Credentialing Program.
While I love teaching high school students, I find adult learners equally fascinating — and challenging. I see myself and others as lifelong learners; as such, I decided to deepen my practice through the HTH Graduate School of Education's M.Ed in Educational Leadership. My educational leadership is guided by critical self-reflection, authentic connection, and the disruption of oppressive systems. I aim to provide all learners with experiences that allow them to acknowledge their positionality in the world they inhabit.
