As I work as a Certified Deaf Interpreter, I consider my philosophy of how I approach my interpreting career with my values, standards, and beliefs.
I also believe in committing to specific, long-term goals to nurture my growth in this profession.
Professional Growth Goals
I am committed to growing in my profession with these long-term goals:
Take full advantage of assignments offered in both face-to-face and virtual settings to broaden my experience in interpreting, particularly in working with immigrants and individuals who are DeafDisabled and/or DeafBlind.
Continue my growth in the interpreting profession by meeting the professional development requirements to maintain BEI certification and Arizona general licensure.
Provide my services as a Director of Artistic Sign Language (DASL) under the ASL Impact organization, collaborating with theatre interpreters as an ASL/Deaf community consultant.
Attend the World Association of Sign Language Interpreters (WASLI) conference and build a network to gain more experience interpreting in international contexts.
Prepare to take the National Interpreter Certification (NIC) examination to work towards full certification with RID to open up more opportunities to work nationwide.
