Recettes pour un ami (Recipes for a Friend)

By Raymond Oliver & Jean Cocteau

Les Éditions de l'Épure, 2017 - Bilingual Edition

Born out of the friendship and mutual admiration between two men, this recipe book seems to defy any definition. A testament of an era, a sketchbook, a culinary collection: it is a bit of all of these at once. The drawings by Cocteau and the texts by Oliver, then the chef at the Grand Véfour in Paris, seem to converse with each other here: from page to page, they paint the portrait of a time and a friendship into which one can dive with delight.

This text was first published in 1964 by the Galerie Jean Giraudoux, and it is reissued here almost identically, respecting the original work. It is composed of 30 original drawings and 60 recipes by Raymond Oliver, conceived as so many tributes to his friend Cocteau. The English version is at the end of the book. (Buy)
