SCSC Science & Nature Conference

The South Central Service Cooperative hosted ~1000 students from grades 3-6. I helped run the The Phun Physics Circus, which showed off interactive physics demos including ideas like conservation of energy, angular momentum, electromagnetism, and spectroscopy.

Astronomy on Tap

Astronomy on Tap is a public event at bars and restaurants with astronomy presentations, trivia, prizes, and sometimes telescope viewings. I've presented in Charleston, SC and Albuquerque, NM.

Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC)

I've presented in the planetarium at the PEEC in Los Alamos about my research on radio galaxies and galaxy cluster environments. I also set up a telescope for a public viewing.

Recently, I lead planetarium shows for groups of students from Los Alamos High School.

Universe in the Park

I ran the summer community outreach program for the University of Minnesota called "Universe in the Park" where we went to state parks all across the state to give free public presentations on all aspects of astronomy and set up telescopes for view sessions.

Astronomy Public Night

While a TA for introductory astronomy during undergrad and grad school, I gave presentations to the public on Friday evenings. We used the 12 inch reflector on the roof of Tate lab as well as more modern telescopes to view planets and the Moon.

Society of Physics Students

As a member and later president of SPS at UMN, I participated in and organized many outreach events for aspiring scientists. We helped scouts earn science badges, visited classrooms, and hosted the "Mystery Science Theater" every year at the student union.
