God Speaks: The Theme of Creation and Its Purpose, is an important book by Meher Baba. It has been in print continuously since 1955. It greatly influenced the ideas in Evolution of Perception Re-Explained and is mentioned in the book frequently. Discourses by Meher Baba is another book that greatly influenced the concepts in Evolution of Perception. Patterns of Discovery, by Norwood Russell Hanson, Cambridge University Press, 1958. Many of the ideas of Hanson find their way into Evolution of Perception Re-Explained and greatly influenced the central concept.
My Philosophical Development, Bertrand Russell, New York, Simon and Schuster, 1959. Discussed in Evolution of Perception Re-Explained this autobiographical book describes the transition to materialism at the start of the 20th century.

Based on Uexküll's most influential books Umwelt und Innenwelt der Tiere (1909) and Bedeutungslehre, translated as A Theory of Meaning (1940), this book introduces to English the German word for environment, umwelt, in the author's sense of a "self-centered world" relevant to the ideas in Evolution of Perception Re-Explained.
