Researching the impact of social policies on queer families which include children
Hello and welcome. I'm Hanna Andersen, a PhD researcher at Cardiff University. I'm undertaking a project which looks at how LGBTQ+ families are affected by policies in Britain, particularly in relation to decisions about becoming a parent. Sometimes, policies which seem like they’re for everyone, were designed with a particular type of person or family in mind. Together we can explore a more inclusive definition of family and parenting for everyone. This research is in service of queer families and the dream of a wider definition of family and parenting for everyone. The insights from this project will be shared with policymakers and activist groups which could have future benefits for LGBTQ+ parents and families.
This site provides information on what the project aims to study, why the research is important and the ways you can get involved. There are different ways to be involved including group policy discussions, chats over board games and crafts, or through a 1:1 interview.
