Hanna Andersen

Hello, I'm Hanna, a PhD Researcher at Cardiff University. My research explores how family policies in the UK impact on LGBTQ+ parents and families. My current research project aims to reduce social inequalities, providing policymakers with imaginative solutions that recognise and support queer families and kinships. It also seeks to support LGBTQ+ activist groups in their work, providing useful analysis and evidence.

I have been inspired to do this research by my own chosen family, full of deep friendships and kinships which exist beyond the realms of policies. I have real hope for a more expansive imagining of family which recognises queer lives and the opportunities which abound through living in community with one another. Alsongisde my PhD research, I’m an activist, writer, researcher, and speaker on all things feminism, politics and inclusivity.
