ChoreQuest
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8/22/2026
ChoreQuest (“we,” “our,” or “us”) provides a mobile application that helps families manage household chores through a points and rewards system. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Who This Policy Covers
ChoreQuest accounts are created by parents or guardians (“you”). Children use the app under a parent's account and supervision — children do not sign up for the app themselves or provide information directly to us without a parent first creating the account and adding their profile.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 From the Parent
• Email address and password, used to create and secure your account.
• Basic account activity, such as when you sign in.
2.2 About Each Child (entered by the parent)
• First name.
• Age bracket (a broad range, not a birthdate).
• An optional 4-digit PIN, used only to let that child sign in on their own device. The PIN is not stored in plain text — it is used to create a secured, unique credential for that child.
2.3 Usage Information
• Chores created, assigned, completed, or skipped, and any reason given for a skip.
• Points earned, rewards redeemed, and payout records.
• Basic technical information needed for the app to function (such as device type and app version), used only for troubleshooting and improving reliability.
3. How We Use Information
• To operate the core features of the app — assigning chores, tracking completion, and managing points and rewards.
• To let a child sign in independently on their own device, if a parent chooses to set that up.
• To maintain the security of accounts and prevent unauthorized access.
• To fix bugs and improve the app over time.
We do not use your family's information to serve advertising, and we do not sell personal information to third parties.
4. Children's Privacy
Protecting children's information is central to how ChoreQuest is designed. The following principles apply:
• A child never creates their own account. Only a parent can create an account and add a child's profile.
• A parent controls exactly what information exists for each child, and can edit or delete a child's profile and data at any time.
• A child's independent sign-in (where available) uses their own PIN together with the parent's email — it does not require the child to provide any personal information themselves, such as an email address.
• We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child without a parent first creating the account and providing consent through that account setup.
• Information about a child is never shared with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
Note: If you are a parent and believe your child's information was provided or is being used in a way you did not intend, please contact us using the details in Section 8 and we will address it promptly.
5. How Information Is Stored and Shared
ChoreQuest's data is stored and managed using Supabase, a third-party cloud infrastructure provider that hosts our database and handles authentication on our behalf. Supabase acts strictly as a data processor — it stores information at our direction and does not use it for its own purposes.
If you choose to sign in using a third-party account (such as Google), that provider will share basic profile information (such as your name and email address) with us to create your account. We do not receive your password for that third-party account.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to any third party.
6. Data Security
We use industry-standard security practices to protect your family's information, including encrypted connections and access controls that restrict each family's data to that family alone. No system can guarantee perfect security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
7. Data Retention and Your Rights
We retain account and family information for as long as your account remains active. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your family's information at any time by contacting us. Deleting a parent account removes the associated children's profiles and data as well.

9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the app evolves. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
