Effective Date: August 13, 2026
This Privacy Policy applies to Chord Transcriber (the “App”), provided by ChengYong Gong (“we”, “us”, or “our”).
We respect your privacy. The App is a standalone, on-device app. Audio import, video import, chord recognition, rhythm estimation, fingering display, project caching, and result review are performed locally on your device. The App does not use our own server and does not upload your audio, videos, recognition results, project cache, or app settings to any server.
Paid purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple StoreKit. Apple may process information necessary for App Store downloads, in-app purchases, subscription management, refunds, system diagnostics, and crash reports according to Apple’s privacy policy, but this does not involve the App actively uploading your media content or recognition results.
When you use recognition features, the App may process:
audio files you import from the Files app;
videos you select from the system photo picker;
analysis results generated from the above content, including chord segments, key, tempo, rhythm, confidence text, model name, and diagnostics.
This information is used to provide local chord recognition, playback preview, timeline display, project caching, and result review.
The App stores certain settings and status locally on your device, including:
language preferences;
selected chord recognition model;
guitar playback style;
project titles, file size, duration, source type, recognition status, and recognition results;
free quota usage records, such as monthly or daily usage counts for certain premium features;
local cache of subscription or purchase status.
This information is stored only locally on your device, such as in UserDefaults, the app Documents directory, the app Caches directory, or Keychain, and is used to maintain App functionality, restore project lists, and determine feature access.
The App uses Apple StoreKit for auto-renewable subscriptions and one-time purchases. Payments, renewals, refunds, cancellations, purchase restoration, taxes, payment methods, and transaction verification are handled by Apple. We do not directly collect your credit card number, Apple ID password, or full payment credentials.
The App locally caches StoreKit-verified product identifiers, expiration dates, revocation status, and related entitlement information to determine premium access when offline or when the network is temporarily unavailable.
The App may request the following system permissions:
Photo picker access: to let you select videos for analysis. The system photo picker only provides the file you choose;
File access: to read audio files you select and copy them into the App sandbox for analysis and display.
You can manage these permissions in iOS Settings. If you deny certain permissions, related features may not work.
The App stores imported audio files and copies of selected videos in the App sandbox. Recognition results are stored in a local project cache. Model files are bundled with the App or decrypted and used locally in the cache.
When you delete a recognition project in the App, the App deletes the project record and attempts to delete the corresponding local media file. Uninstalling the App generally removes local files and caches in the App sandbox. Some subscription or quota cache data in Keychain may be retained by the system; you may manage this through system settings, reinstalling, or contacting us.
The App does not provide a cloud recognition service and does not use our own server. Your audio, videos, recognition results, project cache, and app settings are not uploaded to any server by the App.
External processing may occur only through system services or your own actions:
Apple: for App Store downloads, StoreKit purchases, purchase restoration, subscription management, refunds, diagnostics, and crash reports;
When you choose to use system sharing, export, preview, or open external links, the relevant content may be processed by iOS or the third-party app you select.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your audio, videos, or recognition results with advertising platforms, except where required by law, necessary to protect users or our legal rights, or triggered by your own action.
The App uses Apple system frameworks and StoreKit services, as well as certain open-source libraries and model components. You can review them in the App under Settings - Open Source and Model Licenses.
Please note that model source code and model weights may be subject to different licenses. If we add any cloud feature, server API, or third-party SDK that collects data in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated before that feature is released.
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us using the information below.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect local data, including the iOS sandbox, Keychain, and system permission mechanisms. However, no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Please protect your device, system account, and backups.
The App does not transmit your media content, recognition results, or project cache through our own server or any third-party server. Apple may process App Store, StoreKit, diagnostics, and system service information in different countries or regions according to Apple’s privacy policy.
We may update this Privacy Policy due to feature changes, legal requirements, or operational adjustments. Material changes may be communicated through in-app pages, the App Store page, or other reasonable methods. The updated policy applies from the effective date stated above.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or our handling of information, or if you wish to request access, correction, or deletion of related information, please contact:
