LDawn Sheridan-Reinhuber began singing in Northside ISD under the direction of choir directors Judy Stephenson (Marshall HS) and David Dyer (Taft HS, Class of '87). She studied voice during high school under the direction of Prof. Herald Stark, and received her Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance at Rice University where she studied with voice teacher Virginia Babikian, and Vocal Coach and Choral Director, Thomas Jaber. After completing her undergrad, she moved to Frankfurt, Germany, with her husband (and pianist) Joachim Reinhuber, where she did graduate work in Vocal Performance at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main. She worked in the Städtische Musikschule Aschaffenburg for 14 years teaching voice, chamber music, and directed various ensembles. After having 3 beautiful children, (Daniel, Noah, and Emma- all SMHS graduates!) her family moved back to Texas in 2006 and she started her life as a full-time choral director. Mrs. Sheridan has been with SMCISD since 2009, where she started the choir program at Miller MS. She has been directing choirs at San Marcos HS since 2012, and is thrilled that Mrs. Brigitte Smith joined her as co-director in 2016. The SMHS Choirs have been consistent UIL Sweepstakes winners and they have repeatedly had students place in the Texas All-State Choirs. She is an active clinician and adjudicator around the state, and a member of the Texas Music Adjudicator's Association and the Texas Choral Director's Association, as well as currently serving as the Region 12 Vocal Chair for the Texas Music Educator's Association. Mrs. Sheridan is in her 28th year of teaching, and recently graduated with a Master of Music in Choral Conducting at Texas State University in December of 2017 (Go Bobcats!).
LBrigitte Smith is in her fifteenth year of music education, all of which have been in the San Marcos CISD schools where she has taught grades K-12. She is currently in her 6th year of co-directing the choirs of San Marcos High School with her colleague, Dawn Sheridan-Reinhuber. Smith received her Bachelors of Music Education from Texas State University and her Masters in Choral Conducting from Michigan State University, where she was a student of Dr. Sandra Snow, Dr. Jonathan Reed, and Dr. David Rayl.
Under her direction, choirs of all levels have received numerous Sweepstakes awards and Division I ratings at UIL and festival competitions. Most notably, In February 2020, the San Marcos High School Varsity Tenor-Bass Choir was selected as an Honor Choir for the Texas Music Educators Association State Convention. In addition to her director duties, she is the SMHS chapter advisor for the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and is a founding member of the Purgatory Creek Chorale.
Smith serves as a clinician and adjudicator throughout the state, and is an active member of the Texas Music Adjudicators Association where she serves on the Committee for Standards of Adjudication and Performance Practices. She has had the honor of serving the Texas Music Educators Association as Middle School Vocal Coordinator, Region Choir Clinician, Region Choir Organizer, and Region Choir Section Leader.
Outside of her day job, she is an avid camper and travel enthusiast, and proudly serves as Group Leader for the San Marcos Chapter of the National Stuttering Awareness Association. She lives in San Marcos, TX with her band director husband, Nathan, and is the proud mother of a nineteen year old son, Cayden, currently a Trombone Performance/Education major at Texas A&M-Kingsville, and a precious five year old boy, Mason, who loves to play with bugs and dirt.
