Here in Yamaguchi Prefecture is the land where Christianity was first introduced by Saint Francis Xavier. Though it was temporarily interrupted due to the prohibition of Christianity, it is a historic Catholic church that was re-evangelized early during the Meiji period. The castle town of Chofu allows one to reflect on the Edo period and offers a deep sense of history. If you come for sightseeing, please make sure to visit the historic Chofu Church as well.
