Biography
Chloe Upshaw is a versatile flutist, composer, and music educator based in the Pacific Northwest. Specializing in contemporary flute techniques and electroacoustic composition, her work explores the powerful intersection of music and mental health. Currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Counseling at Northwestern University’s The Family Institute, Chloe is dedicated to integrating psychological principles with the arts to help musicians and artists navigate the pressures of their careers while prioritizing their mental well-being.
Throughout her career, Chloe has worked with students of all ages, emphasizing both technical excellence and emotional resilience. As a passionate advocate for mental health in the arts, Chloe is committed to developing resources that promote resilience and psychological well-being within the creative community. She has shared her research on musicians’ wellness at various flute festivals and created workshops focusing on mindfulness, resilience, and self-care for performing artists. Her goal is to bridge the gap between psychology and the arts, establishing herself as a trusted counselor and leader in supporting the mental health of musicians and artists.
Chloe holds a Master of Music (M.M.) in Music Performance from the University of Tennessee and a Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Flute Performance from the University of Puget Sound. She also pursued doctoral studies in flute performance at West Virginia University before shifting her focus to mental health counseling at Northwestern University.
