Call for Articles

CHLFSA Newsletter Sections:

• Palabra, this section invites all of us to explore a topic or issue, share our work, or simply share something more in depth with the community.

• Reporte, share a reporte on a research project or a news item.

• En Corto, a section that invites members to share a short piece about a current topic, project, event.

• Flor y Canto, this section invites the Sac State community to share poetry, song, and creative writing.

• In 100 palabras..., we are inspired by the New York Times “Tiny Love Stories,” where people share love stories in 100 words or less. In this issue (Spring 2024), we ask, “What is in your name? Tell us in a 100 words or less why you have the name you have."

• Sac State Movida Testimonios, is inspired by the book Chicana Movidas (Edited by Maylei Blackwell, Maria Cotera, and Dionne Espiniza), and asks Sac State community members “How has family, community, or activist work shaped your perspective today and/or your work at Sac State?”

• Entre páginas, we are picking a book so we can come together to discuss it before the end of the semester; you can read the book in Spanish or in English!

• Welcome, we welcome new staff and faculty to Sac State by including a short bio.

• Some Quejas, a section for members to express ideas about what changes need to take place at Sac State to make it a more inclusive campus for Chicanx/Latinx faculty, staff, and students.

• Part of our Historia, a section for members to share a historical piece/reflection.

• Que Pasa?, a section for members to share news (conferences, promotions, babies, new homes, new hobbies, etc).

• Aventuras, a section where staff and faculty share fun summer/winter aventuras. 

• Tiny Chisme Challenge, share a juicy chisme story from work or home, school or community, in 250 words or less.

• In a past vida, share what you were doing 10 or 20 years ago!

• In my little esquina, share an item you keep in your desk or wallet that is meaningful to you.
