The CHLFSA’s Spotlighting Pláticas Series seeks to build community and solidarity on campus by highlighting the life, work, and experiences of our faculty, staff, and students on campus—to learn more intimately about the path they traveled to get to Sac State, their current work and projects, and future plans. This Spring 2022, we are proud to present: Itzel Aceves-Azuara, Enid González-Orta, and Monserrath Medina-Hernandez.
Thursday, October 20th, 12-1pm

We plan to get together on Thursday, Dec. 8th from 10-11am at the Sac State Multicultural Center to discuss ways to disrupt racist, homophobic, xenophobic, anti-black, and anti-indigenous violence in our communities. Join the Chicanx/Latinx Faculty and Staff Association (CHLFSA) members and members of other Employee Affinity Groups in this important conversation. We’ll have coffee and sweet bread to share.
Dear Faculty Members, Students, and Community Members,
We are thrilled to announce a special presentation on the News and Research Automated Curation Project. This project, launched by the Center for Race, Immigration, and Social Justice (CRISJ) and the Chicano and Latino Faculty and Staff Association (CHLFSA) at California State University, Sacramento, is dedicated to gathering, processing, and archiving news articles related to race, immigration, and social justice.

This innovative project utilizes public web knowledge graphs to extract news articles and metadata on a daily basis and make the information available to researchers and students through publicly available RSS feeds and thematic databases. Additionally, the project serves the Chicano and Latino Faculty and Staff Association with daily updated RSS feeds of news and research about Chicanos, Latinos, and LatinX in North America.
Join us for a presentation by Dr. Diego Bonilla on Thursday, April 6th, 2023 from 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM (PST) on Zoom. To RSVP, please visit http://tiny.cc/rsvp-NR-ACP. As a special offer for attendees, referrals to the knowledge graph used in this project will be made available to faculty and graduate students in attendance.
Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about the exciting developments in news and research curation and how it can impact your field of study. We look forward to seeing you there!
Best regards,
Center for Race, Immigration, and Justice (CRIJS)
