我們致力於研究細胞表面膜蛋白如何調控正常生理機能，並了解他們在疾病中所扮演中的角色。我們利用分子生物、細胞遺傳工程、流式細胞儀、蛋白質體分析、電生理技術與基因轉殖小鼠等方式探討 Pannexin 1 (Panx1) 離子通道在神經-免疫及神經-心血管調控中的作用與機制。此外，我們也利用高通量篩選以及藥物設計與化學合成方式，針對 Panx1 開發具有更高專一性與低細胞毒性的新型 Panx1 抑制劑以及活化劑。這些 Panx1 調控劑除了將讓我們進一步了解 Panx1 在心血管、免疫、神經組織中的活性與作用之外，也將可提供包括癲癇、高血壓、氣喘等相關疾病的藥物開發方向。

We focus on elucidating how plasma membrane proteins regulate physiology and how their dysregulations lead to pathological disorders. We use molecular biology, cellular engineering, flow cytometry analysis, proteomics, and electrophysiology, in combination with pharmacology and transgenic mice, to study activities and regulatory mechanisms for Pannexin 1 (Panx1) channels in the neuronal crosstalk with immune and cardiovascular systems. We also employ high-throughput screening, rational drug design and chemical synthesis to develop new Panx1 inhibitors and activators with better specificity and efficacy. These novel modulators not only can assist our quest to elucidate the unknown functions of Panx1 channels in different cardiovascular, immune, and neuronal systems, but could also provide new therapeutic directions for Panx1-related diseases, such as seizure, hypertension, or asthma.
