Thanks to SETBC and "Growing Innovation Rural Education Change Network" for supporting our project!
The Fraser River cuts a huge swath through SD 27, and separates 2 distinct regions that make up our school district. The Chilcotin region lies to the west of the Fraser and the Cariboo Region is to the east. The public school of Dog Creek and the communities it serves are part of the Cariboo region. Although we have named this project #Chilcotin360, we acknowledge that Dog Creek and Canoe Creek (Stswecem’c Xgat’tem) lie in the Cariboo region of our school district. The traditional language spoken in these communities is Shuswap ( Secwepemc).
This is a 360 image of the Sheep Creek Bridge over the Fraser River, which separates the 2 regions of the Cariboo/Chilcotin. Tap and drag to look around! This image is taken on the Chilcotin side, looking back towards Williams Lake.
We are excited to FINALLY be starting up with our project!! Despite the impac of COVID 19, we have big plans for moving forward with building some tours of the Dog Creek area. We hope to focus on local cultural practices and traditions, and share some of the spectacular scenery of our community and surronding area.
Students were introduced to the project and had an opportunity to learn how to use the camera in conjunction with the iPads. They got outside and took a few pictures, and we went through the process of uploading the images into Goolge Tour Creator.
Next we will teach students how to add 360 images to street view, and solidify the process for uploading and downloading images, as well as discuss and make plans for the tours we want to create!
Scroll around the 360 image on the left and meet our students who will be working on our project this fall!!
