Prior to joining GSA, Mr. Hardy was a practicing architect with firms in Florida, Colorado, and Illinois. He earned his professional degrees in architecture and environmental design from the University of Minnesota and holds certificates from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and The University of Texas McCombs School of Business. Mr. Hardy is also a retired officer of the U.S. Air Force, where he served as an intelligence officer.

Ugh! So frustrated. I have chosen the terra cotta tile flooring in the library for a project. I need the tiles to be 1' X 1' instead of these smaller versions of that tile that show up. (I've been using CA X11 for a year now. I usually figure stuff out by checking support or chieftalk or just going down these rabbit holes and trying everything under the sun. But then I don't remember how I went down that particular rabbit hole, so I can't duplicate it later.) But this, I just can't figure this out. As an interior designer, we choose all types of flooring that come in all sizes. So you would think if you choose a particular floor tile in the library that you could just change the size somewhere.

Ok Now I get it, and that is a unique situation unless you are using small paper. If there is no possibility of rotating the schedule to get more room you could send it to layout twice and then crop opposite sides with the layout boxes. Not sure that chief has a built in check box for that exact situation.

This is an issue I've been fighting with for a while, maybe someone has an answer. In chief architect Premier, when moving walls on some plans, the walls never snap to a whole inch. For instance, The dimension of a room is 10'6 7/16. I don't want it to be 7/16". I need it to be 10'6, but it never allows me to move it to the whole inch, every move includes 1/6ths of an inch. Using Cntrl lets me free move the wall, but I really just need it to snap to whole inches, and not some fraction thereof. It's one of the more frustrating issues of chief architect. I like being able to move the wall by fractions of an inch if necessary, but I need it to allow me to snap to a whole number.

EDIT: I would respectfully add that this feature which is requested, to me, seems like it gets to basic functionality and user interface design. This is not the only issue, only the 'canary in the coal mine' - and speaks to a deeper requirement of updating the User Interface. Now that the stability and rendering are there, in my humble opinion if the interface could be upgraded I think Chief could compete with the big guys. But right now new people and prospective chief users open up the program and think 'what decade am I in' and they run the other direction - not knowing that under the hood is a LS1 running 24lb boost, it's just hidden inside an old fox-body mustang
